How character describes a system.

Character is the descriptive layer — not pass/fail. It captures sonic personality: warmth, soundstage scale, top-end character, weight. Derived from amp class, driver materials, cabinet construction, and topology, it explains why two systems that both score Resonant on Signal and Room can still sound completely different.

Intentionally not in the headline tier. The check set is in development; below is a sketch of what Character will surface when it ships.

The active check set differs by transducer class. Switch tabs to see what each chain is graded on.

— character master · speakers

Character — in development.

Character synergy describes the sonic personality a system will produce: warmth, soundstage scale, top-end character, sense of weight. It's derived from amp class, driver materials, cabinet construction and topology — not from pass/fail electrical checks.

It is intentionally not in the headline tier. Two systems can be Resonant on Signal and Room while sounding completely different — Character is the layer that says so.

— character master · headphones

Character — in development.

For headphones: driver type (dynamic / planar / electrostatic), pad material, cup design (open / closed-back), source-side topology. Descriptive, not pass/fail.

Intentionally not in the headline tier. Two headphone chains can be Resonant on Signal while sounding completely different — Character is the layer that says so.
